Cuisine: Filipino

Melanie grew up in the Philippines and now lives and works in New York. Her career as a chef began in Switzerland where she went to hotel school, and had her first job as a service stagiare (French term for apprentice) in a Gault Millau awarded restaurant. She eventually returned to the Philippines, where she established a recreational cooking school and culinary studio in Manila. She developed recipes and worked on marketing projects for Kraft (Phil), Glad, Monde Nissin, UFC-Heinz, San Miguel Corp. and Nestlé before moving to the United States permanently in 2007. She currently teaches recreational cooking at the Institute of Culinary Education and also hosts private cooking classes.

Melanie continues to cook and explore, experiencing everything around her. You can follow her photographs and stories on her blog, Food Post Ink.
