Global Kitchen Closes Its Doors
Dear friends and followers,
Just over two years ago, Global Kitchen transformed from an idea to a reality with our first pilot cooking class held in NYU kitchens. Since then, we have seen our business evolve in ways we could only have dreamed — adding nearly a dozen new chef instructors and cuisines to our repertoire, moving to a commercial kitchen space in Manhattan, expanding our team, and of course, hosting countless cooking classes. We have made such wonderful connections with our chefs and our customers, so it is with heavy hearts that we announce we will be closing up shop this summer.
We will each treasure our experiences with Global Kitchen as we continue our mission of sharing culture and making connections through food in our own way. Ultimately, the decision to close Global Kitchen came when life got in the way (as it has a way of doing). You may already know that Pete moved to Denver back in December 2012 to begin a new phase of his life. More recently, Leah was offered a job in Rome, an opportunity she couldn’t pass up, and Ryan added a new member to his family in December, one who demands quite a bit of time and attention. We are sad to end the Global Kitchen chapter in our lives, but look forward to using the experience as inspiration for new projects in the future.
Of course, we couldn’t leave without saying goodbye! So we are going to host one last cooking class on Thursday, June 19 at 7:30 pm. Leading the class is one of our longtime chef instructors, Melanie Cecilio. She will be demonstrating how to make the following delicious Southeast Asian dishes:
Fried Kway Teow – fried rice noodles, a national favorite in Singapore
Pork Coffee Ribs – another favorite in Singapore and Malaysia
Nasi Lemak – Malaysian fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf
Mango and Papaya Salad – a refreshing staple of Thai cuisine
Thai Ice Tea

We’re approaching our last class as a celebration of what we were able to create, and we can’t wait to see you there!
All the best,
Ryan, Leah and Pete
