Reshma is a whole-foods culinary enthusiast, cooking show host and instructor. She received a Bachelor’s degree in biology and Master’s in biology education from Columbia University. After trying her hand in teaching high school science for some time, she went on to apply her scientific knowledge and curiosity in the kitchen, where she hammered away at creating original recipes that would soon be the foundation of her lifestyle brand “EatFree,” which started as a blog in January 2012 and just several months later, became the basis of her television cooking show series, “EatFree.”
Reshma’s original recipes for savory dishes rely on an abundance of fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts and whole grains, and those for desserts make no use of any refined sweeteners or flours. At Global Kitchen, she will be focusing on the cuisine of India, from which her parents emigrated. Growing up in a community heavily populated by South Asians, she was continually immersed in variations of this rich, exotic cuisine. Indian cuisine not only resonates with her because of her cultural heritage, but also because of its innovative use of spices and plant-based foods that can tantalize even the most ardent carnivore!
Her recipes are showcased on her cooking series “EatFree” which has aired its first season on PBS stations nationwide and is currently airing on TV Asia, a premiere South Asian television channel. In this series, she teaches viewers how to transform whole foods into gastronomical extravaganzas that help retrain viewers’ taste buds so they can begin to detect “real food.” She currently resides in Jersey City, NJ with her husband and puppy, where she continues to passionately develop “EatFree” recipes and offer private cooking classes.
